Abby's Bedroom
Abby will share with her mom till the addition is done.
She so happy designing her own space!

The decision to replace the roof and do this renovation came on suddenly when a friend in town had some spare vacation time. Abby was so excited to be able to have a room at a last. She must have reworked the color scheme daily for weeks while we re-roofed and did inside construction.

You enter Abby's room through a
doorway from the room of requirement.

Right now Sarrah's bed will tuck
under Abby's loft. When Abby has
her own room we will put a futon
under the loft to provide seating.

The dressers fill the other corner
of the room

Abby's pride and joy in the room.
She selected this window treatment which
will fit the new window much better but for
now it is up and she is happy.

We gave her old Buzz Lightyear loft bed a
fresh coat of paint and brought it into this
preteen bedroom with pizzazz

making progress . . . . . . .

Putting up cork board that will trim the room all along the upper
walls to hold all the special things Abby collects.

Abby has worked hard on her room. She learned to mud sheetrock
and sand it. She helped with the painting till she so wanted to not
have to paint any more.

The tile for Abby's room came from
Minnesota with us. She found it and just
had to have it. With all the color changes
the room went through this was
always the floor she wanted.

after the room was re-roofed
we put in a bearing wall.
This divided the room
into two equal smaller rooms.

After the sheetrock is up and we have the
HUGE MESS of sanding.

This room also has a vaulted ceiling following the
roof
line up to the bearing wall. Once the addition
is on it will have a closet where the double
windows are and we will add a new window
to the far wall.

Once the sheetrock was up on Sara's side
Tia and Harry thought it was a fine room.

Here Sarrah has clipped a reading lamp to an open
section of wall and we have plastic and Styrofoam over the opening we made to pass construction materials in.

what was . . . . . . .

This room had ceiling and floor damage due leaking water. The seller had promised to repair that damage as part of the purchase of the house. When it came time to fix it he claimed he did not realize the extent and so back peddled to giving us some money back. The $800 did not even cover half of the materials. Our only other option of court and that seems like just another money pit so we put our money into replacing the entire roof.

the Big bedroom
rotten floor boards under moldy carpet, the ceiling was coming
down due to water damage. Originally we were told it was a leak
around a vent - time proved it was damaged wood roofing and a collapsed bearing beam.
